Have 70 acres of Pedders legumix DD with Horsch sprinter Forager booked for next week sown 29th of May. Mostly looks well, dung weed wont' do much for palitabilaty, 8 acres poor establishment where barley was sown and sprayed of ahead of drilling, the moisture loss from 2 drill passes and the growing crop i think.

Harvesting much ealier than anticipated so will have bare ground till 20th sept or so, going winter barley, was thinking compost could be good ground cover whilst I deal with emerging blackgrass till then.

Looks good. Am very jealous, we planted 8 acres behind failed rape and made mistake of spraying MCPA post drilling. Now have a dirty crop of green oats, all peas/beans/vetch walloped. Wondering whether to graze it or silage

Thanks, just finished the silage very wet so hope it makes ok mowed and picked it straight up trying to gather as much seed as possiblelegumix 008.jpg left a lot behind so ?

1) Graze off later
2) spray now and apply compost
3) leave and drill into the green stubble
4) disc in the green manure and see what comes back

soil looks well considering the time it's hadlegumix 006.jpglegumix 006.jpglegumix 009.jpg

Looks good. I'd apply compost and leave it to grow back. You could graze again later if it suited and drill into the green. Lovely...
