If you're doing alot of weighing then the trutest ones will be worth it.

We went from cheaper bars (they tend to be designed for none-living loads like pallets) over to a couple sets of Tepari bars on two different set ups and they really are much better.
Far quicker reset times between animals, very rare to lose zero, teamed with the correct weigh head more accurate

I have 2 sets of Trutest bars; one MP 600 and one MP1010. MP 600 are well over 30 years old and never had a problem with them or the old AG500 indicator. The MP1010 are 10 years old, had to have a new cell in one bar last year and the other bar is currently with Trutest awaiting diagnosis. Considering the initial cost of the bars and the cost of a replacement bar I am less than ecstatic about this. A conspiracy theorist would be muttering about planned obsolescence!

Well, I am pleased to report excellent service from Trutest. I posted the suspect loadbar off on Wednesday, 48 hour parcelforce, and this afternoon had a phonecall to say that unfortunately the cell is dead. New cell fitted at a good price and back in the post and on its way. So,as has been said on here many times with regard to other machinery, maybe better to pay a bit more and get good service.

Costco has a four cell parcel weigh pad weighing to 180 kgs with a remote readout for £50. Maybe an inquisitive, inventive mind could do something with one. The pad was around 30' x 20'' maybe a wee bit more and appeared to be made of stainless steel.

This is similar though I thought the weighing surface was larger in my head, but then I was shopping with my Mrs so my body was present but my head certainly wasn't.

At risk of being a called a weighing device fetishist (if there is such a thing) I confess to having the scales in the above link. I bought them for weighing parcels before posting etc and for weighing antlers. I don't think they would be suitable for any livestock situation other than cats and dogs etc, can't imagine they would be up to any shock loading.
