In my post I trying to highlight the importance of the s/h side of the business to the overall business as it is that side that closes out the final deal on a trade. And how the Barclays have recognised this by running the s/h trading exporting side of the businesses themselves. I wasn’t commenting on Hrn or nethertons website

Your surely not suggesting this list only represents 5% of their stock ? Their must be around 4- 500 items on this list, they don't have 10,000 machines (items) in stock.
I do apologise for my rough lapse arithmetic, but maybe get yourself around their 12 - 15 depots , and you will see for yourself.

They've all got seperate side export businesses to sell second hand machines also.

Anything decent goes through main dealership.

Yes That's what I was trying to get at (badly) they are working there businesses nearly from the Backdoor forwards rather than from the showroom and leave the rest sorting itself out.

If your a regular reader of this forum, you should know that second-hand equipment is a liability.

The amount of times we have had a thread about ' I bought a second-hand xxxx off xxx and it's gone wrong, I've only had it 5 seconds and they won't pay to fix it'

So, unless it's sold by a dealer, and without some sort of limited warranty that is clear at the point of sale, there are risks all round.

Most dealers that are credible will only offer a warranty on s/h if it's from the same stable as one of their franchises, so if help, support, parts are needed those lines of contact already exist, and are familiar.

Their are variations such as tractors, combines, high value kit etc, where keeping equipment in an area can benefit the Company with service, repairs and parts long-term.

Many years ago, one of the main plough suppliers believed you should make no profit on the actual sale of the machine as you would get lots of profit from earth wearing parts over the years. Of course that was long before the spurious parts suppliers came along.

Surely that’s how to do Buisness? The dealer wouldn’t let a tractor/telehandler out on farm on a 30 day invoice why should the manufacturer.

I can see stock being an issue, where the manufacturer requires you to hold X Y & Z to continue being a dealer / franchise, but also wants you to pay for it before it’s sold, leaving the dealer carrying it financially, although I suppose if you want to be a JCB or fendt dealer or what ever, it is what it is… if you don’t like it renegotiate with a different colour see if they will do better terms.

(Especially in today’s world of finance approved in seconds and internet transfers all on
I would say to you not to bother posting back to myself, I do not deal with liars, if others care to entertain your pseudo character that is up to the individual, including colhonk who seemingly is not sharp enough to take view of your user name either.
