Maglime stored outside

I bought some lime last week, and the weather has not been so good to spread since. Will it consolidate in the heap and become difficult to spread? And will covering it with a hap help to preserve the spreadability?

It is maglime (limestone ground from rock from somewhere near Newcastle). But I can imagine it going sludgy. Then what? Would it be very lumpy when it dried out again next summer?

It will totally depend on the "hardness" of the patent rock.

Some limes can stand a fair bit of rain, some don't. Some can spread reasonably well with the heap wet through, others go like mud.

I usually cover it if possible. Any lime is better spread dryish.

I checked up on supplier of the maglime. NE guessed right, it was Thompsons. It was spread today and had been covered from rain effects, but a little bit on the edge got wet enough that it formed a sticky muddy mass.

In conclusion, I think covering lime from Thompsons is the way to go!
