There are few sights more heartbreaking than watching a skylark driven mad over broken eggs; or more pleasing than seeing a 'hoodie' on the receiving end of a 222-50.

If more farmers took 'corvid control' seriously the countryside would benefit enormously, and wild bird numbers would bounce back dramatically.

In a period of one week shooting 3 times we shot in excess of 500 crows and 150ish pigeons over 33acres my father was convinced they were going to ruin the crop. 43 of those were grey backs ive never seen those numbers before. We didnt see one single magpie though, their numbers have dropped around us. The guy that works for me is a very keen bird watcher/ major badger hugger he was down to see if it was leather jackets, or something else they were flighting in for but they were mostly full of grains and seeds.
