only been dealing with blackgrass for about 4years so still a steep learning curve. have a field of osr drilled at 60cm row widths, been a thick crop all season its about 5ft tall. i have just noticed some blackgrass heads about 8 inches above the osr. have never seen in grow that tall, has any one else. i was planning to try and smother it out in a different field next year with some hybrid barley, but not if it can grow nearly 6 ft tall.

In a nutshell it will grow about 6 inches taller than whatever it's competing with.

It's been like that with us for years - please don't believe anyone that tells you that you can smother blackgrass. It will grow up to six feet tall here in rape.
This year any gap in the canopy has allowed blackgrass to come through and some plants have over 50 tillers each.
