Mixer wagon new auger

any ideas roughly how much a new or reconditioning my auger from shelbourne mixer wagon will be?

its wearing through on the top of the 3 bars (at the base of auger) and its wearing the edge off the worm.

I could easily add some wearing steel no bother but sometimes you spend a while and lake about then 2 year later have to buy 1 any way my auger has the blades held level but id probably change them to same angle as worm

my auger vibrates when empty for some reason but I'm not changing for this reason.

Bought my new auger flights off rota spiral, think 3 sets were about £1800.

Check the oil in the main gearbox and get in and see if it rocks,a bearing had gone on one of mine.

cattle are almost all outside so I've only a week or so left feeding so it will be pulled in bits then
I have rocked and done every thing to try and find a bearing gone but I haven't found any "tell tale signs" yet its not warm anywhere when ive finished either?

so you're thinking mine will be roughly 600 (plus a little bit) did you just literally gas cut the auger back to a straight tube up the middle then add the new flights? are your flights like 16mm thick? and a tapered or straight auger ?

I think I'm going to have another look £600 isn't that much for a proper job rather than patching up and bodging and then re doing it later! is it much dearer if you send your auger and let them weld it up etc? does this include a set of blades? when I spoke to him at a show he says he drills all new augers for universal blades as they are far cheaper than certain makes?

what's the best auger for bales? I have been told the narrower parallel type like mine is better thab the short tapered augers?

Shelbourne will supply a set of wear plates to weld on, or try RS Agri who will repair augers.
We have had 2 shelbournes and they both vibrated when you speed up to get the last bits out.

Cheaper when you buy 3 sets of flights due to carriage, mine were pre drilled but bottom set of holes were in the wrong place.(n)

If your happy with how it mixes replace with the same,my blades are circa £20 each, not sure on other makes.

We just gassed the old off and welded new on.

I'm happy with how it mixes just my auger looks as if it was made of say 6mm steel but has some vertical at the edge to hold the blade "shelves" but I was thinking the way forewords is 16mm thick no shelves (they're just extra work)

glad someone else has the vibration problem it only does it when almost empty of if I run it for a little bit before 1st bale in but sounds really bad when it does it.

are RS agri roughly same price? how much more if you let them do it all?

we could get a few years out of ours by adding wearing metal just debating which is best way to go from here

anyone changed the feed belt on the front? mines real old style no grips (2 belts) don't want to tighten it up much as it slips under big loads atm but I think I will snap it if I tighten it

no never got around to it.
only gave about 2k for mixer wagon a fare few years ago … don't want an extra 1k + in it.

I think I will swap it/buy a bigger one in a year or 2 at 10 cube I can get 3 silage bales in and we are up to 75 sucklers so were getting were we need a bigger wagon. could do with a cheap 2nd hand mahoosive thing like 18-20cube or bigger, not short of space where I feed. but not wanting to give silly money!

also thinking of moving to a straw based diet for them, straw + protein then probably 1 bale silage for them.
