Mole Drainage

Anyone any leads on a Northern Ireland Contractor who does mole drainage. After horses grazing on a very small holding circa 8 acres, fields have become compacted. Moss. Drainage now non exist ant. I have TB in foal Mare who needs winter grazing and wondering if I mole drained a field or 2. Any ideas considered. I'm a female so I know little about it. Just my own horses.

I should have mentioned that I limed it last year thinking it might kill the moss.

Are the ditches clear, no point moling if they cant empty somewhere, if its near surface compaction a grassland subsoiler might do a better job

Yes there's a stream could empty into. It's rocky could the subsoiler work in those conditions.

If rocky then a mole drainer is not likely to work , how close to the surface is the rock? Sounds more like surface compaction best thing is to get a spade and see if the horses have "sealed" the surface a few inches down, if its very close a slitter might work

Horses and winter grazing equals a mess, however good the drains are.

I had a report done a few years back and the surveyor said there was a vein of basalt hence poor drainage. I had several land drains done at the time fenced etc when I purchased this hole 12 years ago. I cannot get anyone knowledgable to come and give advice. A local farmer looked and shook his head!!

Omg I know horses grazing rain a disaster. Only 6 including grand daughters little pony, and an
Old Shetty my daughter used to own
