Moral Foundations Test: An interesting political test I discovered recently

Give me an example where discriminating against a black man, because he is black, is in favour of him.
That's simple enough... human societies - so far back as we know - are principally although not entirely utilitarian by nature; meaning what is best for the greater part is almost always what happens.

Taking your black man as an example and presuming you mean in our society here in the multi-culti UK, or one very like it, it is clearly for the greater good if there are no racial tensions. Your fellow is a member of society and so benefits from anything that benefits the society as a whole.

Let us imagine a scenario in which, say, a number of large public institutions including a national broadcasting body had recruited a disproportionately large number of other black men. Let us further imagine that this came to the attention of the general public who, understandably or not, took umbrage and a rather unpleasant feeling began to stir in the general population.

Seeing this and the possible consequences of their actions, and maybe even recognising that it was wrong to discriminate in favour of black men and recruit the number they did at the expense of white men, they decide not to employ the next black man who comes along - your fellow - and employ an East Asian or a white chap instead.

Clearly this is discrimination against the individual because he is a black man, yet it is in favour of him since it will mean a general reduction in the racial tensions present in his broader society. (y)

Edit to add: of course the same argument could apply to any minority recruited.
