Outpourings from Ben Goldsmith recently

Actually quite a good advert for British farming. Why would they be killing those piglets?
You’re right, context is important. Maybe the whole herd was being culled out due to their ongoing African Swine Fever outbreak. Or due to overcrowding like the UK pig sector underwent due to “staff shortages“ at abattoirs.
Without question what is wrong is the manner in which the euthanasia is being carried out. Not least because of the lack of check that each piglet has been swiftly and effectively culled. It might not be illegal in the UK but is certainly against Red Tractor rules.
A couple of years ago where I had the choice between culling piglets or losing a six figure sum of money and annoying my landlord. I took the latter course, but would not criticise anyone for taking the first course of action, AS LONG AS IT IS DONE HUMANELY, which not the case of that clip, which is not from the UK.
