The ‘slump’ after a peak only comes because people plant more the following season … theres no seed available for that to happen this time.-

Markies will be £560 next week.
Strong contract prices on the table for next season.

The trade obviously thinks prices are unlikely to collapse.

After the last few seasons all the chip shops want contracts.

Yes, slump the year after then? Get some tax back!

A few say chippies are struggling, will many close and the market dry up for us?

They would still be struggling if the spuds were free if you listen to them 🙄. How much of the £2.75/£3.75 portion is the actual potato cost?
Was interested while having my dinner so i did the maths 😂

Working off a large portion as an example and say for arguments sake there one of the more generous chippys that give a 600g portion
41.5 portions per 25kg bag? £155.63 per bag?? At £6225.20 per ton i may open my own chippy at the front gate 😂

Is it a bizarre way of advertising? When you have been cold and wet most of day they do look yummy/ tempting.
Most people in the comments didn’t seem to bothered by the colour anyway.

I wouldn’t be surprised if this is one of those shops that demands the cheapest potatoes a Merchant can get, yet acts surprised when they don’t produce perfect golden chips 🙄
