Has any body put a 4 cylinder powerstar in a 2wd and what did you do about the sump front axle issue? I know a 4wd tractor is a lot easier but curious has anyone done it on a 2wd?

There was a 2wd Ford 7600 for sale on ebay a while back with a Powerstar engine. Looked a tidy job with the correct exhaust spouting from the correct hole in the bonnet. :)

Sorry, not much help...

Why ruin a perfectly good engine . :scratchhead:
The engine that’s in the tractor is worn she’s putting oil out about the exhaust and tractor ain’t a minter plus I have a good 6640 engine sitting in the shed that’s cost me nothing but I would only swap over if I didn’t have too butcher anything so I could return tractor back too original if needed.

I think I’m right in saying that original tractor sump won’t clear the balancer on a powerstar, original balancer won’t fit on a Powerstar, BUT, if you happen to fit the powerstar weights in the lathe and shorten them they will fit the original engine balancer unit!! Yes, it does work!!! If I remember correctly the issue is that the helix gears are cut differently. You will need your original inlet manifold to retain the battery position and the injector pipes will need fettling!! Oh, and an ignition switch with a live feed for the injector pump, original Lucas one dies not keep the ignition feed live when cranking. You could maybe mess about with a timed relay and a diode.

Hey all, I'm considering putting a 40 series engine in my Roadless 65. I have previously put a TS115 engine in our 7810 and a 7740 engine in our 7610. I realised that sump issue with the 7610 as I attempted to use the original but since it has a Carraro axle it didn't matter and I used the 7740 one in the end. The Roadless uses that bracket on the sump for the axle mounting similiar to a 2wd, so it needs the old sump. Wont facing the gears in a lathe affect the balancing?
