How early could that be sown Kev?

I think the only risk from going too early is likely to be the brassica bolting to head, just the same as stubble turnips/rape does when it warms up after the winter. Trigger by a cold snap perhaps?

Most forage brassicas claim to have better bolting resistance these days, but Typhon used to be a sod for it iirc.

I don’t believe I suggested it was a new invention (?); merely enquired how early it could be sown.
it’s sad and increasingly recognised, how you jump on any thread besmirching products you don’t sell!
Having previously had a successful career in the commercial world, you soon recognise when someone concentrating on competitors short-comings is undoubtedly lacking themselves…

And if you read back the coments itwax I who suggested to used Hybrid Rape and Ryggrass

OK note to myself try and be helpful without the windup

If you get it in early you will easily get two cuts, if we don't get last years drought
Put plenty of seed on ,14 kg or a bit more
I like to take a light first cut ,it clears any weeds out and seems to encourage growth

It's a hungry crop , we grow it here only because we have plenty of slurry and we need to get silage quickly off spud ground
I would expect about 10 bales acre off second cut then a light 3rd
That's here mind ,no idea where you are
RVP Italain Ryegrass was very popular with dairy farmers in the 70ts when nitrogen was cheap

Avoid mixes that Contain Westerwolds as well as the heading dates don't match ,sow one or the other

We would also add a few kgs of late Perennial Rygrass ,it fills the bottom in a little and grazes better over the winter firvour sheep

Cheers Derrick, like the idea of a bit of a few Kgs of perennial for wintering sheep. Winter kill up here nails everything so best grazed off.
