Just been on the phone setting up my demo program now (couldn't face the prospect of typing in all my back records from the Shearwell program:eek:), so ready to have a play.

£50 off till the end of the month too, if anyone's thinking about it.

Still here and installed, just looking at another option. I trialled the Border program a couple of years back, and much preferred what the PC software could do compared to Farmworks, but was unconvinced about the Psion module. Shearwell then produced an upgrade which addressed a lot of my issues with it at the time, so never persevered with FarmIT. The Border software also has a facility to do simple field records, which will save me buying a similarly simple program like Farmtrack, or scribbling on paper.

My biggest problem with Farmworks, remains that there is no way to record untagged sheep, such as your slaughter lambs, for vet & med or movement/flock register. That means that you need to keep a written record (or bits of at least) to have full records as required by ministry. The only way round it on Farmworks, as I can see, is to tag all sheep and ID/record them. This is obviously a good thing for a tag manufacturer, but not so good for a farmer that doesn't require those records and only wants to stick a cheap batch tag in their ear as they go to market.

I will have a play with this demo and make a decision before 1. the price goes up by £50 and 2. we start lambing in 3-4 weeks. Certainly looks good so far though. :)

Edit to say that it looks like we'll all be using EID only soon anyway, only the Welsh left on non-EID batch tags soon (but not for long I'll bet).
