Removing Air from Bottle Jack

I have a few bottle jacks which were left on their side for a while and are now refusing to lift machinery, when you pump the handle, piston extends and then falls again. 20ton jacks are refusing to lift 200kg.

From what I read/google there is air in the jacks.

Anyone got a quick and easy way for removing it so jack will be of use again.

You could try pumping the jacks with the drop valve open, after pressing the piston in and leaving to settle for a while.

And you did check the oil level was proper?

They should self bleed just use them idle and upright a few times.
And as above check oil level as they tend to leak if left on their side, through the small rubber filling grommet

is there water got in them as well , put them in by the rayburn for a week or 2 with nothing to lose.

Haven’t done yet, how to do that? Is it supposed to be full right up to level screw, with hydraulic oil

I think so , that sounds right

Don't go mad with the oil Aidan, just keep putting oil in until the ram hits the buffers.
