reseed or brassica first for beef cattle??

wanting to reseed a few fields over the next couple of years. rather than just go from grass to grass would it be sensible to grow a brassica first?
historically we would winter or spring barley for a few yrs then back to grass but the next fields wouldn't be very big to bother with cereals. soil type is predominantly clay loam so outwintering isn't an option.

Can't you plant stubble turnips in March/April then graze in June and reseed in August or September.

could graze till end oct/beginning nov depending on the weather or later and just tramp the ground
