Screw/cone type log splitter

The screw/cone type splitter can be dangerous, a member of the family had a mess made of 3 fingers with one! You need the utmost respect for it and still an accident happened. Personally I would go for the hydraulic wedge type myself.

Screw type one mounted on a 360 would be the mutts nuts! Saw mill next to us has one and he was telling me he was busting 3ft x 3 meter trunks down to size that will go through a processor, also used it for breaking up big rings that people have left cos to big to get on a splitter.

Hse is stopping kids learning industrial processes.at school i did all sorts of welding and machineing..doubt they do now.

There is a bit of difference between a kid using a screw log splitter than learning industrial processes at school, it's a shame if that is the case and hse is trying to stop that learning process I agree with you on that but as for a kid using a screw log splitter it's a no for me, I couldn't live with myself if owt happened to my kid. If your happy to let it happen then that's your decision but never ever think it won't happen to you it doesn't work like that. I lost a finger in another accident and never dreamt it would happen never mind a family member loosing 3 fingers in a screw splitter!
