Sheared 10 sheep today not because I wanted to but big maggot problem and shearers not able to come till Wednesday. Never known it as bad but one good thing was after having a bulging disc bad back etc which led to a injection in my spine exactly a year ago it seems to have done the trick(y), Chicken fried rice is off the menu though:stop:

Only had a few problems this year with strike but in the last week its been awful. Bundles of thousands of maggots in clean wool.
Very glad all clipped now.
Glad to hear the back is good.

I've never known so many flies around as this year, sheared sheep 4 weeks ago and had to treat a ewe yesterday as she had 6 or 7 patches of maggots. Had a lamb with it as well and they were sprayed with clickzin 6 weeks ago so now all ewes have been done with clik and lambs retreated with clickzin.

I decided to shear the maggoty ones cause you'd do the patch on a sheep and they'd appear somewhere else a day or two later, No probs with lambs yet as done with clickzin but just frustrating waiting for the ewes to be sheared. Probably find some more today but think of all the money I'm saving shearing a sheep

I had a ewe with maggots that had been shorn 3-4 weeks earlier so only just fluffy regrowth!
Mild winter not helped?
A warning for us all, finished ours Friday before the rain late for us but broke toes a few weeks ago so had to shear in steel toe capped boots, not good. Noted that of those struck all were bought in from a windy area wonder if this indicates home breds are better suited to our land. Have a habit of never keeping ewes which are badly struck. Easy cares have so far been strike free!

Mustn't be as many about here, finished clipping in bye sheep on Wednesday and only had one with a few maggots on the tail, none on any lambs yet either, might treat all with pour on when we have them back in to footbath lambs and mark the ewes in the next week or two.

Been waiting for the shearers for about a month now, coming tomorrow thank god as I have been shearing maggoted sheep every other day now for the past two weeks, never known it so bad. Started with about 250 to shear, msut be well under 200 now as I have had to shear 15 - 20 some evenings. Lambs ok as they were Clickzin'd 3 weeks ago.
