We are currently using approx 350 units of electric per day on our dairy farm and only have a single phase supply, we have a 10 kw solar setup but are looking at ways to cut our reliance on bought in electric, we have considered a slurry ad plant but consider the payback to be too long and we may not be milking cows for ever, we have would like to explore wind power but aren't really sure where to start or if it would be viable for us.
Any thoughts or recommendations would be appreciated.
our electric usage is 24 hrs on robots.

I can’t get over how much power you consume on a single phase. You’re pretty much snookered. Last single phase wind solar I did the dno would only allow 5kW solar and 5kW turbine. Both combined would generate 15,000kWh, wind mainly in winter solar mainly in summer. A nice complement for self supply.

Your problem is load, I doubt the dno (district network operator) would allow any more.

What are you paying for power and do you have different tariffs e.g day/night?

We are on 12.1 day 7.4 night 21p standing charge till 31/12/19.
What are the thoughts on battery storage as an off grid solution ?

Your enquiry is complicated.

Do you want to check what additional load you’d be aloud from the dno?

I think we start with this then explore options right down to LED lights?

Led lights already
You need to find out what room you have on your line

‭0151 221 2110‬

That’s your DNO phone number, ring them up with your mpan number and tell them you are looking to put more solar up something like 100kW and how you go about finding out. This is to test your capacity load.

Let me know what they say

Iam intrigued but am not really familiar with this setup

Its really a modern day steam engine generating electric but the heat range of hot liquids has been extended between a range of 80C to 230C.

Only an example there is other manufacturers.

Obviously how you raise that liquid temperature depends on whats available. In your case biomass because although you have used the biomass for the comfort of your cows you have not used the energy contained in the sawdust.
