Tb testing in open fronted parlour?

For one thing most vets hate tb testing, for another the Government is paying them to be there not the farmer and finally if the vet cuts a corner in protocol in any way to speed things up/make life easier for the farmer you can guarantee said farmer will throw the vet under the bus if he doesn't like the test result so if you get someone carefully reading every tag and clipping like his life depends on it you only have yourselves to blame!

Does your vet not take every ear number and trim every cow properly, how can he check those cattle against the bcms list which he brings with him. My vet obviously thinks I'm an untrustworthy dodgy character, and it can't be to do with numbers as we often have a lot of cattle about.
The vet clips and and takes a skin measurement with callipers for every cow. They use an electronic gadget to record the skin measurements against tag numbers. They often have a student vet with them for this, if not then we will provide someone so the vet just has to measure and shout out numbers.

Better to work with them than against them so everyone can get on with something useful that much quicker

I discuss this every 60 days with our practise tb vet and whether a herringbone race would make a difference but from a tb test point of view he maintains we won't gain anything. At present he and I test milkers on exit from am milking through race and crush. That said he tests through the front of a 44/88 not far from here after milking and it works well I understand.
