Time between bailing & wrapping

Have some silage bales that will have sat for upto 10 hours before they have got wrapped as couldn't get a contractor straight away. Will the bales keep allright? It's only 50 bales so not the end of the world. The bales are chopped & fairly green.... and now it's raining! [emoji854]

I often have ones still to wrap the next day after baling, not ideal but seems to do ok. These are fairly dry bales made with mchale belt baler.

Fixed chamber ones can be a real pita the next day though!

I had bales made last year that the grass had been dried well before baling. Half way through wrapping there was a torrential downpour for about 15 or 20mins, needless to say I could tell the bales that had been wrapped before the rain and the ones wrapped after. The ones that got rain all had a 6 inch layer of crap around the outside which was inedible. After that they were good though!

Still in good shape and getting wrapped at the moment [emoji1][emoji106]. Blooming heavy though!
They'll be fine. Stop worrying about them. If events mean that they couldn't be wrapped at point of baling , then there's nothing you can do about it anyway.

In the wetter parts of the UK , silage isn't often made in ideal conditions, but I've never seen silage bales ruined yet. It would be great to make silage perfectly, but if you can't, you can't. Bales left overnight wouldn't worry me.

I used to be pretty relaxed about wrapping. Usually knackered after baling and would leave til next day. Didn't see any real problems this year been well organised and all wrapped behind baler amazed how much better the stuff is. It's only percentages but still helps
