It's certainly possible, but is it likely, who knows. I was quite shocked at how weak US democracy appeared to be when tested beyond the norm of democratic behaviour by Trump and his supporters. A carefully constructed campaign which has been underway since before the last election by Trump and the far right, could see him or one of his acolytes back in office under the guise of the Republican party.
