USA hospital situation turning very serious

Apparently the situation in the USA regarding covid and their health services is getting pretty serious now with even the bigger hospitals on divert simply due to numbers and not enough staff to look after patients. Not good. Can't find anything in the news though. Reuters did a piece but this was way back on the 24th.

MSM is very good at reporting only what they think you should know.

From what I have been told there is going to be an acute shortage in terms of workforce in the USA within 4 weeks. The way this Omicron variant is spreading when you look at the incidence graphs puts it at something 4-5 times any previous peak infection rate with it reaching a peak by April 22. If that happens in the UK I guess I will be drafted in to do something.

It's the problem that someone admitted to ICU after general surgery will be in and out in 2 or 3 days. But a covid patient will often be in for 2 or 3 weeks. 🙁

Apparently Canada is seeing the same issue. Hospitals being rammed with covid cases, to the point that the stay at home 'covid can't catch me me' folks are borked if they have an MI/stroke/sepsis or broken bone.
Sobering
Fingers crossed those predicted graphs are wrong
As to the comments about obese being a major problem
It doesn't help because folk with issues cannot be blamed or forgotten, especially by people who consider themselves very fit and stating, almost, it's not their fault
Maybe a food shortage might help?
As Ollie points out, and I say this from just having a new hip joint I needed 3 or 4 yrs ago, who knows what we are maybe going to require ongoing, fingers crossed we don't,and fingers crossed the virus fizzles out.
