Vodafone Dropping Calls When Changing Data Bands

Got a persistent problem with vodafone phones (Samsung Galazy S2 and several Nokias) dropping out of calls when we go from say H+ to G data bands. As we have varying degrees of mobile signal around the yard let alone the farm, this is getting to be a pain.

Does this happen to others?

Yes, in some places I force it to use the 2g signal.

You can download an app from Google Play to put a toggle button on your homescreen to switch between 2g/3g manually.

Yup it's a bloody nightmare, there are 2 places on the a63 into hull I always drop calls and a load of other places on the a1079 between York and hull. Considering they are both A roads and don't have full 3G coverage is rubbish.

My private phone is EE and doesn't have any issues in the same areas

I agree. It's especially crap at the moment. 54 attempts to make 3 calls last week. Still at least 3 attempts needed per call despite over 50% signal showing. Can't even get texts out some times.

Come Feb 16 when contract is up I think I'm going EE. Son us in them and seems 100% better service.

Vodafone just seems crap all the time, it cannot handle band changes.

Was driving up the M1 yesterday and wanted to ring my wife and say good night to the kids dropped 5 times in 4 mins. It really is shocking has very little 3G in areas my EE phone never drops 3G including major motorways and between large towns.

It really is rubbish

I moved from o2 to Vodafone a few months back. Big mistake!

I'm now considering buying out the contract as there is only one spoton my place, about 6' square, I can reliably make a call.

O2 wasn't perfect but were a lot better than Vodafone. Also Vodafones customer services are terrible to deal with.

If I head their radio advert say "connecting people" one more time, I won't be responsible for my actions.

Lower your contract to bare minimum for a month and it won't cost as much:)

Changed phone to the most basic Nokia in Tesco for £15. No dropped calls since - cant do data. Also comes with Snake game :)
Snake game!! Haha that brings back memories!

I turn my data off on my iPhone, it stops it from dropping calls and it helps the dreaded "call failed " usually when I have 3-4 bars.
I only have these problems when I'm at home.
