Can anyone recommend a WPP for a small user who wants to register domain names, put up a couple of web sites, and use email?
OK, here comes the rant which you might wish to skip! I've been building my own web sites for years. First, with AOL, then Frontpage, and latterly with Dreamweaver (with difficulty!). I'd like to continue doing my own web sites and occasionally one for a friend but 1&1 was getting worse and worse and I just can't understand the American accents. I also want to do email, of course. I browse with Plusnet and have no complaints there at all. So I decided to change from 1&1.
I tried Gopapa but that was a disaster (more Americanese!) and I cancelled under the distance selling regulations. Then I tried 123-reg.co.uk, mostly because they are British and we speak the same language. OMG, ten times worse!
Since I closed down my account with 1&1, all my emails (on IMAP) appear to be lost. I have tried to follow 123's instructions and do actually have three domains transferred, but I have given up trying to get the pages loaded. The email accounts don't work either. I am now getting a message from Thunderbird that I'm blacklisted! 123-reg has also billed me for a Linux account which I don't use.<sigh> 1&1 was really good when it started and the techs would help out. Not now! Can't even get hold of a 123 technician....
Any suggestions? I think I may have a skull fracture from beating my head against the wall!
