SATURDAY

A south to southeast flow is going to be affecting the country through Saturday. A front through Ireland and northern England in the morning passes north during the day. Then a further front arrives in the Channel late afternoon and into the evening.
It's a cloudy and damp start over much of southern and eastern Ireland, extending through Wales and into northern England as well as southern Scotland. This rain area edging northwards through the day crossing the rest of Northern Ireland and moving into central Scotland. Staying dry in the far north of Scotland.
Elsewhere through England and Wales the day should be dry with bright spells and mostly dry weather. Feeling warm in the sunshine in the southeast. However, towards evening cloud increases with rain reading the Channel by late afternoon, and then passing into southern and eastern England in the evening. Cloud bases lowering here as the rain arrives and visibility deteriorates too.
Winds mainly S-SE (16-20kt) F4-F5 but F6 (20-25kt), tending to become more SE'ly through the afternoon and lifting F5-F6 (20-25kt) for most.

Uncertainty in the area of rain passing north overnight. Charts show a rather complex situation by Sunday with low pressure through Scotland and into Ireland. The southerly flow is maintained.
Probably a wet and murky start over much of Scotland and Ireland as well as northwest England. Low cloud and poor visibility here.
Drier and brighter to the south with some sunny spells breaking through the cloud. Staying fair for much of the afternoon although heavy showers developing over southern England later, one or two in in Wales too.
The rain in Scotland slowly edges north with more southern areas probably becoming drier.
Winds S-SSW F5-F6 (20-25kt), F6 (20-25kt) in northern Scotland.
