the 59 is very common, easy to get, can fit several different bodies onto them, 185`s for vintage,TCN`s for classic, The 63 is a longer framed plough for using the old fashioned proper seed type bodies,(also longer to fit on a trailer)can make a very good job in the vintage class. I have both but always use the 59 with genuine Tcn`s and have done many a better job than the 86 proper match plough a lot of people pay big money for now,It`s the plowman that makes the diference not so much the plough.
What really bugs me is the amount of gardening (CHEATING,USING HANDS AND FEET) that goes on,there`s no need as most of those who do it are good at ploughing anyway.

The 63 has more point to point clearance. Both use the same legs so the choice of bodies will be the same. With the increased length a 63 should make a good job at coming out at the end, however going in might not be so neat

Managed to get a hold in a ts59. It's a four furrow and I'm intending chopping it to make it a two.

Does anyone have any ideas regarding a sliding cross shaft and sliding wheel assembleis

I have a ransome robin with YL shallow boards.I cut the wheel off and welded a inner pto tube to the plough and the outer to the wheel stem so that you can slide it out to finish. also made two brackets for the cross shaft to go through and used some threaded bar now I just undo the u bolt on the copsell and wind the plough across with a spanner.

I do a sliding cross shaft system, where it is easy to move the plough over, without having to undo bolts and nuts, and will be available as a kit for you to fit, or we could fit it for you,

pm me for more details

Finally got new plough hole on Friday.i was under the impression that a ts59 had 27" clearance between the boards, which is why i went for it, unfortunatly mine only has 24. Does anyone know how easy it is to bore the frames and what size the bolts are for bolting the legs to the frame

TS 64 had legs closer together as it was a digger plough.
re drilling the beem, it is queer stuff, sometimes easy but often seems to have a hard Knot in it which does the drill bit no good.

I have a ts64. It is a rare one as it is lighter than a normal 64 and has the same legs as a 59. It only had 24" clearance hence the purchase of a 59 which I thought was longer but not this one. It is a 59r I think, it has the round bar down the back

Just measured my 59 and it is 24 inches, my TS 63 is 30 inches. as far as my limited knowledge goes, a 64 legs were longer than a 59.:) a 64 has round bits of rod welded on the frame for fixed skimmers that were on a length of flat bar clamped ontop of the bar.

Most 64s have a heavier frame and heavier legs, they have a bigger distance between the hopes on the legs which mount to the frame as yes, they are longer legs
From what it says in the ransomes book a 64 has 24 inch clearance, a 59 should be 27 and both a 63 and 86 have 30 inch clearance.

I have seen some 64s with 30 inches clearance aswell!!!!!

Looks like I'm going to have some serious drilling to do
