What should the NFU be doing?

So, is the suspicion that NFU gets operating funds from corporate affiliates (be those middle-men processors or supermarkets) but that they are cagey about revealing just how much cash they get from those sources vs actual farmers (jump monkey, jump!), or is it just that there is too much of a cosy relationship between those at the upper levels of the NFU, and they go around sponsoring each other’s conferences, occasionally sitting on each other’s boards etc?
Is there any breakdown of where the NFU gets its funds from?
They won't disclose their farmer or corporate membership afaik, which kind of suggests they've got something to hide. It would also be interesting to know how much those corporates are paying them in an attempt to influence policy.

As you say, it's not a good look.
