I'd like some on now. But will go whenever I can travel. 150kg total for me, split 50/50.. Whilst the old boys tell me that flat barley makes a farmer, in reality with a big combine it is a damned disaster.
We always get told 100kg as soon as you can get on land in good conditions and another 50kg or so 6-8 weeks later, hopefully be on in the next fortnight!
Barley is all about creating & keeping tillers. For normal feed varieties I do 3 splits of about 60 kg of N with the first one around now, second at GS30 & the rest soon after.
Syngenta prefer you to put a bigger proportion of the N on before GS 30 for their hybrid barleys. I'm putting 80 kg of N on as soon as I can travel.
