We got a wolseley farmers mains clippers about 3 years ago now!

How long would people expect these to last???

We had to change the ball at the bottom of the tensioner a few months back and today when clipping calves it was working fine then all of a sudden stopped cutting the hair!

Blades were still moving at right speed with no unusual sounds or heating of the hand piece!
Yet the hair was sort of jamming between the blades and not cutting....

Anyone have an idea the cause of this???

Took the cutting head apart and everything looked as ot should!

It was cutting perfectly fine and half way along the back just stopped cutting the hair and more pulling it as some hair was getting jammed between the comb and cutter!

They werent blunt and were cutting fine but put a new cutter and comb on and same thing happened immediately!

He's replaced the ball at the end of the tensioner... if it works like a normal handpiece it's likely to be the fulcrum post needs replaced, too.

But without knowing/seeing the machine it's hard to comment
I had to change the cup part the pin goes into on a shearing handpiece last year a new one of them might help too. But seeing the handpiece would help save us guessing

Update:

It is a Shear Genius electrical piece! Picture attatched!

Had read on previous pages about the tension bar wearing on them so we had the old set still around so took the bar out of it and fitted it to tbis one!

Has worked like a dream all day...

Out of interest how long would people expect these to last with good care taken of them before anything wears etc???

We have had this set around 3 years and clip around 600 cattle a year (calves, cows and fat beasts)
Also bellying and dagging around 100 lambs ruffly!
