I'm getting to grips with Zero but....

How do you all manage the issue of only partial reclaim of VAT on electricity and water (reclaim on business use but not domestic)?

I reclaim on 25% of our electricity and 50% of our water.

I am not expert.... but reading the link above, I believe agriculture is classed as division 0 and not charged VAT on water, however business involved in one of the following industries are charged VAT on water:

• Chemicals
• Construction
• Engineering
• Manufacturing
• Mining
• Textiles
• Utilities

Though why that is baffles me. Surely all businesses in those sectors are all VAT registered and can reclaim the VAT paid with no net benefit to the treasury, it is just a burden on administration and cash flow?

Domestic water use is also VAT except.... I wouldn't think you need to be paying VAT on water but I am not an expert, question it with the supplier.

I wouldn't shout too loud. You're only paying £1.08 per cubic metre! Most will be paying well over 20% more than that.

@Clive your tff search function is sh!t so I'm tagging you instead. In one of these Xero threads you mentioned about the double password login to help prevent fraud. After hearing a friend get fiddled today I'd better look into it properly. If you could pass on some details please of what I need to do.

Well that was a palaver. I try and avoid complicated processes like that but hopefully the two step login will keep me safer than without it.
