Milk Price Tracker

how much salt would you need for 50 litres of water in 4000 litres of milk....not something i would ever risk though.....just a mate of mine was interested and sells his milk to first milk....or should i say gives it to first milk!!

just trying to put a bit of humour into an otherwise rubbish situation dairy job is in at moment.........serious note...i wouldnt put water in my milk on the 1 occasion it happened accidently my purchaser sent letter about it and we ended up with an inspection not long after!!!!!!

I accidently put a cold water rinse in the tank once, about 100l. Rang my purchaser about it and they told me to discard the milk so I guess its something they really frown upon.

Potter in the dairy farmer magazine article put my feelings into words perfectly today. well worth a read. Those sorts of prices from first milk whilst Tesco farmers getting 32 and more for volume and solids is just not on and needs sorting.

Just to confirm, the Tesco price for a standard litre is 30.93 for a standard litre of 3.85% fat, 3.00% protein. There is no bonus for fat and protein above these figures. Volume bonus would max out at 0.3ppl for collections of over 5000ltrs per day.

I'd agree, it is indeed a very good price with a huge disparity between processors and contracts. However, it doesn't seem very long ago that AML and AMCO were receiving in excess of 40ppl, whereas the aligned suppliers most certainly weren't. So we all have to take the rough with the smooth.

Tesco have a group of First Milk members within the TSDG - not sure of numbers though, or whether FM TSDG members actually benefit from the TSDG price.
