Because its a small percentage of their useage. So 30ppl don't matter when its diluted. Then they shout we pay our producers a fair price. Divide and rule!

I understand Tesco source some 97% of their liquid supply from their TSDG farms, and Sainsbury, I believe source 94% from their SDDG farms. As far as commodity dairy products go ,such as cream, cheese and butter then both supermarkets (as do all the others) will source from the global market. Tesco do, via the FM TSDG source own brand mature cheddar.

I wouldn't say that's small percentages.

Ffa could easily arrange

Unlikely. It strikes me that it's the co-ops that are under performing, and the smaller liquid processors profiteering coupled with the supermarkets that haven't ring fenced their supply with aligned farms, making hay with the p1ss poor global market related milk price. Plus, of course, the local over supply and poor spot price.

Also bear in mind that more than half the dairy farms are co-op members and have been warned (I've got the letter from Arla I can quote from if you like) against protesting at their own sites - so half the dairy farms wont turn out if a protest is planned for a co-op.

In addition - imo FFA over protested last year whilst the price hadn't even finished falling. And quite possibly still hasn't. Far better to protest when the prices don't start rising alongside the global markets - again, imo, FFA should have kept their powder dry. As the great exodus that Handley was forecasting hasn't actually happened (yet), I suspect there will a lot of crying wolf accusations being bandied around. And I'm a fully paid up member!

I just can't see the required level of support if well meaning and intentioned good guys like "happycows" don't feel the urge to turn out even though their own buyer is paying them some 5ppl below the cost of production. Happycows - sorry - no offence meant, just an example.

An AMCo discretionary payment will be made to AMCo TSDG core members who have remained with AMCo TSDG throughout the entire two-year transitional period. This will be paid in December 2015, in respect of milk supplied from 1 January 2014 to 30 June 2015, provided that the member has not served notice to terminate their AMCo milk contract at any time prior to 1 January 2016.

Must be a tad worried, trying to stop max exodus of Arla members back to direct TSDG. Arla say that members will not be paying for these little extras but some how we will in the long run I would think?

You forget to mention tesco have a clause in their contract which says if non aligned price goes higher than aligned then their aligned get 1p over non aligned price which happened in 2013

You may be correct but a friend supplies 18,000 litres a day to Parkham farms for Tesco mature cheddar and I know he breeds and feeds for fat and protein. I can't imagine 3.85 fat and 3.00 protein would make best cheese.
it's just the difference in the 2 prices that I find unacceptable and the the crap that they say ahh we pay our farmers one of the best price whilst as a % its only a small amount and the have's are getting subsidised by the poor First milk have nots.
97% umm I don't believe that.

Almost right but not quite. It doesn't say 1ppl. Certainly tracks processor price in a rising market - which would trigger an Extraordinary TSDG committee meeting to review pricing. But it went nowhere near the 40ppl+ figures the co-ops were acheiving - and good for them, too.

It's not called a Sustainable Dairy Group for no good reason.

How is it a handful of badger fanciers can hold Cafe Nero to ransom yet all the kicking, screaming and lobbying by FFA, NFU and every farmer producing milk seems to make bugger all difference?

We're down at 23.23ppl +0.8ppl volume bonus to a local processor (price from June 1st - 1.65ppl lower than May) and I feel bad complaining with others on up to 10ppl less but our kit is falling apart at the seams and needs some serious investment. And that rent review only goes in one direction.

With every agricultural sector in the doldrums you'd be well placed to go for a rent standstill or even a reduction.

Read on Potters site that the Muller/DC merger is going to a full monopolies investigation.
Supermarkets have complained that too much milk in too few processors hands would lead to a price rise.
