Anyone a regular in the Letters Inn Tattenhall in the 70's or 80's biking era? I've forgotten names of many of the pubs I used to frequent from those days, must be old age or too much alcohol:eek:

Ha yes tattenhall high st used to look like sturgis
Tigers head at Norley and the Tap at Eastham were other good biker pubs
Used to go to the letters when 1st left school on an old(even then)unrestricted fizzy you could get 50 out of it for half an hour before it blew up.they used to all cheer as us young guns burnt up the high st on our sewing machinesThe old man got fed up of paying for rebores. And bought me a bright orange allegro as a penance

Ah yes, most of my mates had either SS50's or fizzy's I had a Garelli tiger cross:) Beeston Cafe under the bridge from the mart was always full of bikes at the weekend. Don't remember going to the Tigershead or the Tap but they maybe after my time. An allegro must have been a serious penance although I didn't fair much better, my farther bought me a Dolomite 1300:D

Bit late to the party!:facepalm::banghead:

Great thread(y) lot of stuff I lusted over looking through magazines or bigger farms dad worked on when growing up.:)

Going back to the Burgess theme, the first branch was basically an ironmongery in Market St Lichfield. After getting the Ferguson tractor franchise, they expanded rapidly, Stafford became head office, and I have been to branches in Shrewsbury, Leek, Uttoxeter, Derby, Banbury, Warwick, Eccleshall and probably more, we used to buy everything from them at one time. Once they lost or gave up the Massey Ferguson franchise it was downhill all the way really

I believe they had some branches down in the West Country but not sure if they traded under the Burgess name
Guessing the same? There was a Burgess down here Exeter, Devon did a weeks school work experience with them some 16-17 years ago.:wideyed::eek:

I had a purple fizzy, and was envious of my mates Garelli. Tried two up on mine, with my brother. We leaned too much on first corner and fell off. He was a year younger and only had a pushbike, so we used to tie him behind on a rope.
I soon moved onto an Austin 1300, then a 1600 Capri!
