There is a world style class at Ashby, only 2 world confirmed entries out of 65 entries all together. Entries close 1st Sept earlier than that if the field is full, entry fee confirms entry. Ring 07971278001 or email [email protected] for further details.
Where is the Ashby match? I know of a training daay, but no idea as to weather its including a match, thats nr Derby.

I cannot be more explicit, it has been here on the ploughing match dates and announcements thread for 5 weeks, I have put my email address & phone number above to contact me. The post code for the site is LE67 2RH. About 26 miles from the training day site. Get on the A511 for about 20 miles then right onto the A447 about 3miles to Ibstock, it will then be signed for the last couple of miles.

I take it that the training day is just that then. Bit of a shame, I have been told that some of it may be on grass. Allans may be in trouble, the crop is still standing and with the weather at the moment looks to staying that way! Even if they get the corn, the straw will be a problem.

@arcobob - as I am a steward at Lichfield and although I have been for quite a long time, I'm not quite at the doddery stage yet. I am very interested in your references to 'world style' as I can find no mention of this in any of the rules for the WPA online , or in the rule book of the SOP under whose rules we operate, the pre Q cab reference to classic eligibility is taken from SOP rules?

Both @ploughman1963 and @Roy Stokes have ploughed with us on many occasions, we are always keen to learn how we can improve our match and if we need to change or add to our classes to encourage more entries then we would be delighted to do so. One thing that you would like is that we police hand work religiously and have eliminated it successfully IMO.

Would there be any chance of adding a world style class in the future? I'm only at Warwick so Lichfield is a fairly local match that I would like to plough at in the future

If someone can tell me where to find the specification for a 'world style' class, I'm sure we could accommodate one even this year, but As above I can't find a definition of the qualifications for this class in any of the rule books, if you have this do please let me know so that we can all learn something.
All our classes except the European Match plot are parallel 100 yd plots varying in size depending on the class spec. Euro plots are to SOP spec.

Unfortunately Mr Chaff cutter I won't be attending this year due to extra workload, I will be sending the cup back with a friend, probably Tony Shepherd if he is going but I will make sure it is there,
You have eliminated hand work and I must admit the match was a pleasure with no one sun tanning their A holes, but the year previously the open mounted was won by a competitor who pulled every bit of stubble from his plot and didn't complete it until 2.40 pm, 40 minutes over time, the class that year only had 4 competitors and the man pulling the stubble would have won without but the other competitors felt he shouldn't have picked up the prize as he was late finishing,
The situation last autumn was completely different where everyone finished on time and everyone I spoke to had a fabulous day

World style is ploughed in the same vein as classic and vintage mounted, but using newer ploughs mainly kverneland hydraulic top links etc are allowed, hopefully someone can describe it better than me.
