Birds & Bales.

Last year it was B- - - - y Cats, so This year I parked the haylage bales away from the yard and aye now its bird damage. Today I was removing old net wrap and started to wonder if anyone has tried to cover a single row of bales using a length of wrap net, perhaps over the odd tyre on top of the bale and weighted down at the sides. would this be cost effective ?

net would be ok to they loose interest but it will be a bugger when it rots/degrades, a few tires for them ti pirch on, its the feet do the harm and they land on the highest point i was told that all, few plastic bags and string would be easyier though.

I find that if I stack them on their sides I get a lot more bird damage, whereas if they're on end there's much more thickness of wrap in the top which maybe puts them off (and the bales stay round, which helps with handling them).

Most effective for us has been to hang a dead crow or two on poles above the height of the stack.Replenish as necessary.Probably get hate mail, sued, threatened, but my stack is ok.
