Does anyone know what size bolts go into the front castings on a David Brown 1390 four wheel drive? Various threads on the DBTC state 5/8 UNC but they are too small.

Anyone in the know?

every one ive seen is 5/8. Unless yours have been stripped by a previous owner and tapped out to either 11/16 or 3/4

might even be M16 metric, ive seen those forced into 5/8 threads and ruin the thread in the casting

I spent 7 hours sweating my balls off one day raking with the 1394 this summer. I much preferred it to 2 hours in the milking parlour. During the day I heard some fool on radio 1 complaining about how hot it was in his air conditioned tractor.

Our 90's and 94's get warm in the cab in summer, the 94's should have cured this problem with the 90, in my experience, they did not.

Are they noticably worse than any other early Q cab of the time, Ford Bubble cab, MF, JD SG cab etc etc?

In my experience, they are all chuffin hot on a hot day...

I quite like explorer cab. It's comfortable and quiet, plenty of room for pins and things. Just short of a bit of head room on a Marshall - I thing the seat is further back than on a DB?

Never had the pleasure of doing any work on a Mashall with Explorer Cabs.

We get on ok with the Explorer Cabs.

There was no perfect cab in the 1980's, All had good and bad points, I suspect we will be saying the same about todays tractors in 30 years time (assuming we are not sat at the dinner table driving them by remote control by then...)

Spent a lot of time sweating in a 1494 lifting grass with a NH 339. Thing I love is the sun roof banging closed every we bump you hit.
Buy a new gas strut!
