Dundee registration?

Has it got MOT and stuff? Leather?

It's not really what I was looking for, I would like perhaps a Sovereign with lots of chrome to use for weddings (also have a Shadow) - and ideally the same colour, silvery blue - but - interesting(y)

You do weddings @blackbob ?
Proper weddings, or just for the cheap road tax ............... ;)
Neighbour does it so the young lads can get the cheap tax for the bigger cars, not sure if it works the same over with you? Seemingly the road tax is a set figure if its down as a hackney
Couple of shadow's on CoPart.co.uk click (in classics) if you keep a wee eye ...........

Yes I had done 4 I think..

Pre-1971 cars have (or maybe it's 'did have'?) free road tax, and classic-car insurance was something like £150/year comp, and they don't mind you doing 4 weddings per year, and they didn't ask for details of that either so...em...
The second wedding, the Rolls suddenly lost drive, with the bride on board:eek:.. we towed it home and got the box out, couldn't find anyone who could fix it (it's similar to a GM, but not the same) so ended up getting another box.

I ran taxis too in those days, but just normal road tax, so I'm not sure what your neighbour means?

2 of the taxis (put 100k miles on another X-Type before I wrote it off - fell asleep driving, and rammed a parked car:cry: Bought this one as a write-off, and done 70k so far)

They look well in estate, think its because they never did them, until recently ......
I'd say the bride was well impressed .................
Automatic boxes, can be expensive to open, replacement box was probably cheaper? Think you have one or two specialist RR breakers over there? Its a pity the Jags loose so much value as they get older
For a 3L private car here, the road tax would be at least €1800 a year.
Here if you have a hackney license its a set price regardless of engine size, maybe €250 a year.
The wedding cars would be down as hackneys.
We have €52 a year road tax on anything over 30 .........

Oh go on then, @7610 super q won't mind us leading his thread off-topic as it keeps it near the top of the page...

Here's the Rolls and my 'bridesmaid' car, a Merc 450SEL, nice enough car but wrong colour (charcoal) and I think a Jag or Daimler would be a better match?

...and back to taxis, this my first Jag, and a car everyone laughs at, although it's a great taxi:)

Great pictures thanks ........
Fiat Multipla three seats wide if I remember correct.
We had a few fiats Regatta, 131, 124, and an 850 all good cars but they really do have an image problem. And after sales back/parts, non existent here. Great diesel engines, pity about the electrics, the wiring loom would be that tight, the plugs are all ready to just pop out, for the sake of 25mm extra wire ........

Yes 3 in the front, 3 in the back.. and you can remove or move them to accommodate dogs/luggage/furniture/shopping... And older people loved the big doors and high, spacious seating position.

Done about 100k miles with it, needed few suspension bushes and front springs but not much else, survived hitting a badger, a deer, and having petrol put in it:facepalm: (not by me)
Can't remember having any electrical problems at all with it?

Seats are a bit basic and at least one drivers complained it gave them a sore back, but I liked it(y)

Better money than a tractor - £100/hr for the Rolls, not so much for the Merc
Although you can't really charge for time spent polishing, etc

They don't do many miles, and fairly reliable, I think the (£350) gearbox was just one of those things, it was easy to find another one so I wouldn't think it was a 'weakness' with them.

If anyone is interested, these are first-class http://www.flyingspares.com/?gclid=...0LL9ftW_HkYsRUEwYAQtc31w2zEC54pQGgaAhTX8P8HAQ
I wish I had taken a photo when I was there, they had a body of a Silver Spirit lying in the yard, butchered into 4 quarters:eek: so I guess they can sell you anything from a bolt to big parts of the body:) (new parts too, of course)

So that's £100 an hour from you leave the yard till you get back? How many hours does it normally take?

They would always ask for a price beforehand, so you just have to guess really, not so exact as that. They come to see the car beforehand, I went to local haberdashery shop and got a few ribbons of various colours and showed them, so they could choose one to match their clothes, or bring their own.

Very different world to farming! You tell them your price, tell them what you can provide and discuss with them if they would like something particular, then they can take it or leave it. luckily there don't (or didn't) seem to be any other Rolls in this area, so there was no real competition. There are stretch limos and one of those ugly Beaufort things, but no proper cars;)

Why am I telling everyone all this?:D

Well mandy and me will have to actually tie the knot eventually.
I was thinking to keep transport in house with a couple of vintage tractors, but that might not suit everyone
