What jd v 390

2650 CC2 I would think, had one here along with an SG2 2850 Hi Lift. 2650 Hydralics were slow and never had enough oil to tip 11t Stewart, but it would pull. Came from a livery at next to Loch Ness with 1600hrs sold it to neighbour with 6500hrs and he sold it with 9500 only had axle seals (outdoor pigs and sandy soil) an alternator and batteries when here. It did have 3 doors as we had 26 inch tyres all round and the wind would catch the door when reversing break the strut (and latterly strap) and the door would buckle and explode.

Personally I never rated the 390. Had a brand new 40kph K plate on a summer job put 400hrs on it. Single stick 18 speed?? from memory, dead as a door nail (40kph box). Hit a brae with 10 tonne behind and you were down the box and then a range with a dead stop. Shuttle was a novelty to me at that time having been used to Deeres, 85xl Nashes and crash box Fordies (which I still like for loader work not the clutch though). Got a new G reg 5610 AP and McConnell loader at another job great tractor dual power made all the difference on trailer work this would be equivalent Fordie to 390. Not many left as tin worm did for the cab and most have been exported to warmer climes.

Ah memories!

Cheers BB

Had a 6300 too one of the first, was dead compared to the 2850 Christmas cake depth control was made of chocolate, the front window leaked as did the sunroof and the side exhaust burst here and there sending fumes into the cab. 4f M950 Vogel and Noot plough did for the rear rock shaft. Sold it age 10 very glad to see it go gearbox was heading south at 7000hrs and I never did like that right hand shuttle on the consul bought a 6750 Valtra which has been pretty good apart from the turbo spewing into the intercooler and bursting steel pipes on the spool block. Equivalent Massey would be a 3075, never drove one of those but spent a year on a 3070 Datatronic which was not a bad tractor but at only 3 years old was starting to rust quite badly around the cab, place had a 3065 loader which wasn't great gearbox mainly from memory and felt more than 8hp less than the 3070.

Suppose trouble is with only 80hp and 40k is quite high geared so would soon be pulled back. Funny that you say k reg was poor my uncle had a k and an m reg both 30k and the k was always twice as fit. I always wonder if it was because one was driven hard by the young farm hand and one by an auld boy:whistle:

My dad has a fourtrak, don't think it ever gets over 3000 rpm, it wouldn't pull the skin off a rice pudding
Mine pulls fine
