Yes, growing spring oats for the first time ('tame' ones anyway :cautious:), will be watching this thread with interest...

Grow 30-40acres of S Oats every year Fab Break Crop...
Cheap to grow aim for 2.5-3t & thats even at lower seed rates for HLS rules
i must have done sumfink write as i had the best sample in our grain Co-op last harvest
I grow Winter Ones aswell & mind they look like a 5" new bowling green atm (y)

did anyone suffer from header losses much last season in their spring oats, defo weren't coming over the back as it was all over the field,only two reasons left for losses were either got shook out a bit with wind or header losses.

A Little but far worse in my winter ones...
Advice to self Spray off & dont go near for 3wks !!!

That's exactly what we did, 2 weeks after spraying winds came so putting it down to that , on the plus side they were rediculosy dry going into meldon but I think most folks were

End of August begining of September in Durham .. for combining ..
Our losses were nothing as heavy as that or. Think we did about 3 t of them last season gone so that was canny

No but I couldn't keep my spring drilled Mascani in the combine :( no bother at all with the winter drilled stuff. I think I will try spring beans this year as my land is getting ready for a bit of a rest from cereals.
