sds drill extension

Hi, looking to drill down a hollow block wall to put rebar in. I have a 4' drill but need another 3-4' of extension bar(s) to get to base. any ideas?

I take it you mean 3-4 more inches, what size drill bit you using ? you can get the long series drills in sds we have some 12mm drills could be about 16" long

Can get sds bits a meter long ,ive got some 600mm

got 20 and 25mm sds drills at 16" easy enough to get

No, I mean need to gain an extra metre over and above a metre long bit.

Might have to cut and shut an extension rod.

Will welding hold ,not alot of steel to get a big weld onto and if it snaps your drill bit will left in the hole

What sort of drill are you using to drive a 2m long bit ?

Buy a new drill bit on the small K tapper then but an adapter small_large K taper ,weld the adapter in a piece of 26mm tube on both ends then you will need a sds- K taper drive for the drill

u can get them up to three metres but could get pricey i would have thought

I doubt the standard size sds will be strong enough ,soon twist the shank off ,,you,ll have to use the sds max which is much stronger ,even then its asking alot to drill into that depth

Exactly , and you will break your arms trying to hold a long sds

Only going 100mm into concrete. Trying to fill the hollow walls as horses have bumped into it and cracked it. Nothing at all to do with skidsteer.

There'll be a lot of torque in the bit, but not drilling full depth.

Just enough to get the bottom of rebar into solid stuff, then fill wall.
Might have to drill in at the bottom block on angle, drive rebar into angled hole from top, then fill wall.
Bodgetastic.

Bosch 2 handle mains core drill. Prepared to hire bigger but want to establish principle first. 2 cracked walls but also want to strengthen the walls that haven't cracked yet.

Core drill means it stops if it jams rather than break wrists.

I had to do similar once, got a piece of tubing that was a tight fit over a 12mm sds bit, welded it on then welded another knackered bit in the other end to drive it, pretty bodgetacular but it drilled approx 50-60 holes before it cracked the weld, luckily at the drive end so just welded it back on and done another fair few holes

That's the plan. Unfortunately some of walls are under a low leanto roof so might have to bend drill at 90 degrees to get it out.
