The Hunt

One Boxing Day, us hunt sabs were picketting the Seavington in Crewkerne as usual. Well, my mate's girlfriend happened to have a waitress uniform (I think she worked at a tearoom somewhere in Somerton at the time). So the Redcoats were all milling around on horseback in the square as they do, when she came out of the crowd near The George Hotel in her waitress uniform with a tray of chocolate brownies, which were gobbled up enthusiastically.

Later that day, numerous riders could be seen crouched in the hedgerow or in the back of horseboxes looking distinctly uncomfortable...

Interesting ingredient...double strength laxative.... :LOL::LOL::LOL:
How exactly do you find that entertaining giving someone dodgy food..

Your a scumbag, think of the danger you put the hounds in calling the horn to split them up.

Oh really?

A mate of mine from a nearby sab group got that footage, I remember him talking about it afterwards.

Then there's this from Ireland:

Pot calling kettle black much?

And please notice I haven't called hunters 'scum' once during this conversation actually....;)

To be honest I am not anti hunting but wouldn't say I am a massive follower of the hunt. I have my stock removed by the hunt and haven't ever been billed for it yet and they never hunt over our land either, so in a sense they do also provide a service aswell even if people do have problems with them sometimes.

Oh I expect its quite minor compared to the time a certain well-known band of terrier men from the Seavington cornered two student sabs on a narrow lane, on their first outing, just out of curiosity, and beat the hell out of them....or the time when we were punched and kicked along a road by the Quantock Beagles, or the times that sabs have been run over by horses at full gallop....etc etc etc.

Hmm.

I think hunting is like Brexit and you will find both the farming and the general public split on the subject.

In a way I think you did the right thing @Robin1966 in flagging up your anti hunt and previous sab credentials if only so it wasn't a hostage to fortune for future journalistic engagements.

However, I think it probably best - if you want to gain access and trust in the farming community on renewables journalism, maize growing articles etc - if you don't go further on this thread. Nobody is saying you can't hold your own opinion, I'm just thinking about your future objectives

Yes I agree. I've got a bit rattled now anyway, which is usually a good signal of a time to leave a discussion. And I've made my point anyway so the rest is just detail...To the guys who called me 'scum' etc and other angry comments etc...pax now please. I am done, so I'll buy you a pint or two if I ever we meet...:)

:LOL::LOL: I think more pertinently though, I spent years arguing the case with hunt supporters in the early 90s. It was a long time ago, I don't want to really get bogged down in all that again to be honest, and it's actually quite nice to just acknowledge we disagree on this and move on...or even better, go on to a different subject where we do agree and actually be quite friendly, respectful and smiley about it. So here endeth my involvement on this thread. Have a nice day guys and see you somewhere else on the forum. :)

If you want a real scrap , roll up your sleeves and tell folks you (like me) voted Remain . Even if you didn't there's a few that will be baying for more blood than any hunt outing :ROFLMAO:

Thanks for the offer, but, er, no ta. Actually, cheers for the warning, I was going to investigate the topic of immigrant workers on fruit farms etc and the impact of Brexit on production, and thus the viability of the business... but I think I'll give that subject a wide berth now...:LOL::LOL:

I guess you are against the hunt due to the percieved harm caused to the fox.
Yet you find causing harm to other human beings funny?
Hypocrite.
True colours showing through.

I would have thought one of the first lessons at journalist school is not to start picking fights with your sources!?

If you ever want to interview me I'll be in a balaclava, just to make you feel at home.
