That is madness but I guess it all comes down to having a load to go the other way or not.
They don't give a toss once they've dropped off the illegals

Coast to Coast over £80What roughly would straw need to be in Wales/ Devon etc on farm if you were paying £55 in Essex??

I can't comment on Devon don't know the haulage rate but it confuses me that straw is often dearer there than Pembrokeshire
That's why it's dear they like to run the m4 and go no further . MS0 £85 is about what the trade on farm should be and there isn't any reason to pay anymore at a auction!
Most hauliers don't seem to be able to get a load up from down here, they either run up empty and come back with straw or come down with straw and return empty.

I been bedding y/s on poor hay...silly buggers keep eating itvery rarely we agree on much but we do on the price of straw
I will say that the money made out of selling straw loads to farmers is next to nothing. It reminds me of farm contracting .everyone wants to do it so competion is strong .I was going to mention guths lol
Well the dealer makes a profit as do the hauliers and the suppling farmers. To the first two its a volume thing.I will say that the money made out of selling straw loads to farmers is next to nothing. It reminds me of farm contracting .everyone wants to do it so competion is strong .

Hay makes sh!t beddingGiven there is no demand for hay this year then perhaps more of us should be doing that even if you bed with hay one day and straw the next day.
But at the right price does it really matter?Hay makes sh!t bedding
