What would attract you to a job?

You'll be very lucky to get a like for like replacement I'd reevaluate everything you do.

Or just keep the old boy working
Very tempting!! TBF although he does an awful lot his jobs aren't that many. He does the scraping and feeding for me and will help fetch calves in etc.

Not that I'm ungrateful for what he does!

Amazing how much time is saves me if he washes whilst I'm trying a foot or something

You talk about paying staff 40k per year. I don't know how you can do it. When we were getting 19p the milk cheque had a struggle just to pay bills let alone pay a man upwards of 3k per month. I know me and dad run 2 houses and 2 cars etc out of our business but still. Where do you find all the money to pay a man who does 50hours per week. which to put it bluntly is just over half a weeks work, who does the rest?

I'm firmly of the opinion to have better equipment and do as much of the work as possible yourself.

We had a little stage of employing people when I was at school and loads of them came and went. It's not good being let down

id probably get someone whos done farming before but looking to slow down but not wanting to stop, for the mornings, say 4/5 hrs that way,you save money and he wont be knackered,so he`ll return,.id hate to think your working just to pay your worker

I don't know about how to attract someone to a job but I do think the key thing in retaining staff is just don't be a pansy.

I don't pay the sort of salaries people talk about on here, if I gave everyone 30k and a house I'd be quickly bankrupt. Apart from a retirement, we've only ever had one person leave for another job, and they came back 6 months later.

Edit: I've just noticed my post has been edited. It was supposed to say don't be a can't, not don't be a pansy.
