4G home Wi-Fi

Here's a sexy new gadget from Three called a Home-Fi unit. Works on the same principle as a mi-fi unit HOWEVER.....it has a far greater range of signal, it comes on a 12 month contract at £20 per month for 40Gig per month, you can link 30 units onto it, it has Ethernet ports and external aerial ports. Literally take it out the box, plug it in where you can get a 3g or 4g signal (mines on a south facing window upstairs) and Bobs your uncle, home broadband. Obviously wont work if you cant get any sort of network coverage, but, if like me you live in a rural area, but you can just about get a 3/4G signal if you stand in the right spot, then this is a far better and bigger service than the mi-fi units of old.

Search 4g router, they have been on the go for a while, though a bit niche till lately.
I Bought one off @Pheasant Surprise on here, a Huwei.
Stick a SIM card in the slot and it's the same to use as a ordinary one. Full wi-fi, 4 Ethernet ports the lot. Has all the usual port settings etc and also an option for VOIP calls.
We get about 35mbps download instead of 0.4mbps with phone line.
40Gig of data soon disappears when you discover iPlayer Amazon Prime video etc. Also remember that 40 gig is up and down. Put one drive on the wife's laptop and it backed itself up to the cloud and wiped out a month's worth of data!

Can you combine it with a fixed line bb connection (router) and control what has access to the high speed and potentially expensive mobile connection?

I'm thinking the odd streamed HD film and file download on high speed and basic browsing on the lower speed bb.

I use satellite broadband for day to day stuff, and the fast 4G router for connecting into my works system.

I have a TP-LINK wireless dual band 4G router using a Sim card from O2 - currently on 30 quid for 20GB pay as you go
hugely faster and cheaper than BT who I have ditched

We are looking at 4g EE broadband as ours is crap 0.84mbps if we lucky. The push for this is to control cameras in calving shed away from the farm will be pay as u go as I only need it for two months and will 2gb of data per month be enough (£15 per month for 2gb) will only be used for cameras. What's folks views?
