Our co-op isn't forecasting nasty surprises at the farmgate in the near term. I'd have thought barbers would be steady too?

It's true that the matter of SMP stock has been and will continue to be a concern. The fat bubble couldn't continue to expand exponentially, and the bigger it got, the bigger the burst was likely to be. No one knows where it will settle, but it's still entirely possible that it will find a new, higher level relative to other commodities. I think we could make a case for that with continued strong and stable demand for butter, and the depressed market for SMP discouraging skimming to meet that demand.

A little setback at this stage might be viewed as a good thing, provided it doesn't turn into the next bear market. :nailbiting:

Our co-op is of the view that most of the recent market volatility has been supply driven. Let's just say, it wouldn't be a big surprise.

However, perhaps we shouldn't be too quick to euthanize this bull?

Oddly enough the 'storm' was a bit of a non-event here, thank the Lord. A whole lot of talk about very little, and ridiculous that schools are cancelled again. We've had a whole lot worse, and a lot less said about it.

Couldn't agree more Ag, no need for schools to be off at all, there'll be more wind by Christmas and nobody will say it's happening.

I guess the authorities were covering themselves after seeing the south call the red alert. But to have all schools off today is ridiculous. Surely they could have worked it on a school by school basis if the power was off, similar to when snow falls. It was windy here, but it's been worse. One man here had the cap blew off his head. He's OK.

Maybe you fellas didn't experience anything resembling a 'Storm' but don't presume everybody else in this wee country is in the same boat. I've a tree smashed through my garden fence, my brother has about 50 yards of fencing on his lane flattened, we've a few other trees down as well as various potentially lethal bits of debris now lying about the yards.
And whilst now it appears wrong to have the schools off today, yesterday afternoon, when they made the call, it was the right one. Only someone with a death wish would have been out round here at that time. It's easy to be an expert after an event.

4 electric poles broke on our road so must have been bad enough here

South East was to be the worst affected. Electric went off here for a couple of hours yesterday afternoon but nothing worse than that. Need to remember that 3 people died in the south so I think that the authorities were right to close schools.
