Guess first question is drum or electric?
Cost wise drum is cheaper just means counting the drops your self, less to go wrong
Ours is a Port Agri but think they are discontinued?

We have one which is very similar to the logic type. No electrics etc. The hopper shape means it's ideal for using to carry feed up the sheep shed feed passage for scooping out with a bucket (into walk through troughs) which saves a huge amount of walking. Also use it for filling creep feeders too. Obviously we use it for outdoor feeding on the ground too. There are some with a plastic hopper with a lid on which would be no use for those extra jobs.

Had a logic for 13-14 years now. Dad even did a video for them (y) great machine and we had the solid roof because the tarp would’ve blown off and at the time we were doing 4000 small hay so we could carry 4 bales ontop of the solid roof. Great machine even if it’s only used for 3-4 weeks a year now only feeds half the sheep now. Last year from filling by hand, driving a mile, feed 400 ewes and back again would be 22minutes.

They are a great snacker, we have two of these logic machines but only need one now as we have less sheep hence one is for sale but tbh not really bothered if it doesn’t sell as it will always be a spare if the other does ever go wrong in the middle of lambing time.

Had a logic for 20 years now. About due a trade in as it has seen better days. Electric so it counts the drops, only thing I would say is against it is if feeding cobs rather than nuts they can get stuck as it chomps shut leaving a large enough gap to lose the rest of the feed out of it. Would think since we got ours they'll gave rectified that though.

The electric shutter puts the feed at a greater spacing than a drum does, so the ewes are better spaced out to feed without ewes on different drops pushing each other around. Don't know how they compare for reliability, we did have minor issues with the box and the shutter motor connections but ours was really old. Tbh I stopped using it, not because of problems with the snacker more it didn't work for me, I couldn't take the trailer at the same time so often two trips the same place and I didn't like the sheep crowding around the snacker getting pushed against the wheels, I just slip around in the mud now instead......

Ah fair enough. It should sell easy? We mix barley and oats in ours and then prop it up and fill bags with it, doing 7-800 drops at a time (1lb a drop) we’ve had to have 2 motors in the time we’ve had it which probably wasn’t helped by doing continuous dropping.

on second logic, even had the first ironwork, before logic took them over , did try the barrel type but poor wheel bearings and low to the ground and being in mud killed it off and nearly loosing a wheel, as was doing over 12 mile a day !! logic now and works great on a gator

Like @MJT and @Six Dogs I have a Port Agric, ground driven. Good machine works fine, nice BIG hopper will actually hold 350kg unlike some of the ones you can buy currently...

If I was buying brand new right now it would be between the Chapman (electronic rival to Logic) or Swaledale Engineering ground driven on the bigger tyres. They are easily the 2 best built on market...

But, if you just want one to chuck some grub out on decent ground which isn't too rough, you can't go wrong with the Portequip
