I wouldn't touch a chopper blower & all the dust that goes with it.
We have a spread a bale, it spreads it thicker but the bed lasts longer

You can vary the amout of blades and hooks on the rotors. Less blades = less chop. Ours doesn' chop very short, maybe 6 to 8 inches?Does it chop it up I want it long so it lasts

Yes my cousin has put wagon silage through his.Ours does clamp silage. In a different gear. Round bales have to be broken up a bit.
We're using not-so-good hay type stuff to replace straw through it in loose housing.
