Business electricity

We have got to renew our business electricity so was wondering if anybody has had a good deal recently? Who should we call? Presently with EON coming out of a 3 year fixed price contract but they want to put our annual cost up by 54%.

They will all try and con you into extortionate new rates when your contract is due to expire. Tell your existing supplier that they are way too expensive, that you will be going elsewhere, and the chances are that they will offer to ‘have another look’ at their prices.

Also phone around other suppliers and see what they come up with: and maybe worth telling the supplier who comes out with the best offer that they are still too dear, and see what else they might pull out of the hat.

Also if you are an NFU member I think that they also have a new service to find the best supply contract for your farm.

Eon won’t budge and have said take it or leave so they’ve had a termination notice as there was no negotiation at all. We’ve got 4 supplies with them all together worth around £15,000 per year on present agreement rates so as the rest come up for renewal they will all be moved elsewhere after the way they had acted with this one.

Had ring round directly today to Bussinesssave as quoted above and also a couple of others directly and it appears standing charges are around 55-80p/day. Eon quoted 365p/day. Then day rates are anything from 15p/kwh to 16p/kwh and night rates 10.5p/kwh to 11.9p/kwh. Just now waiting for a buying group quote to compare. Either way its considerably less than EON who's day rate 20.93 and night rate 14

Im with Npower through machinery ring, prices are good but meter reading and billing is woefully. Every now and again I get an A4 envelope bulging with bills and credit notes some 12 months old. Npower blame my smart meter/mobile signal but that worked fine for British gas.
I will be trying the nfu scheme next

Just trying to sort ours out.
Any thoughts on Opus as a micro business supplier please?

We have an account with them.
My experience is as follows.
They never read the meter so bounce from credit to debt with them.
They changed me to a smart meter ....and left the meter door open to the elements and we had some water ingress into the wall. Not their fault speak to the meter company ....who didn't want to know as contract not with them!
They then decided to change my tarriff to a day night one now I have a "smart" meter only its not very fecking smart as every single bill since has still been an estimate! Anyway had to challenge them to revert me back to the original single rate tarriff and a £100 sorry for the inconvenience.
Contract ends in April.
Will I renew not very likely but given the missed appointments with SSE lately they are all necessary evil!

Hope that helps?

Thanks @Sid. Not great then are they?
Our location means a smart meter is a no. So a telephone line offers half hourly readings to Stark via EDF for the solar . Input to house, cottage and farm all go through that meter which we rent from...... EDF. It’s been changed twice.

EDF has quoted 15.06 for day rate. And 10.55 for night. We are not big users :) so not much leverage. Opus via Money supermarket saves £47 per year on today’s quote.
EDF rarely read the meter, but I do and the monthly DD is pretty spot on.

In the past have been with SSE and Scottish Power. All as bad as each other.

Went through the local co-operative for mine, currently on a temporary rate as my end dates not in line with theirs.

27p per day, 9p per unit day and 5.1 at night. Biggish use though
