Moving a Nissan hut

Anyone moved a Nissan hut? Ours is 35ish feet wide an 80 long, it’s in ok condition but it’s a crap shed for livestock, ideally I’d like to move it up to back of yard an use it as machinery storage, then extend a portal frame shed to cover the concrete pad hut currently sits on.

It wouldn’t be worth the work of completely stripping an rebuilding but I wondered if we could move it in 3 or 4 sections using 2 forklifts.... anyone done this or have other ideas?

Probably not worth bothering but I suppose if you could brace it with loads of timbers and make a frame to hold it together you might be able to jack it up and put some wheels under it.

I know two people who have tried this and they both ended with a broken twisted Nissan hut

On a serious note, if it’s worth keeping, then I think it’s got to be taken apart properly and then rebuilt.
There’s not much strength in a Nissen hut if it’s not pinned to the deck! As @ARW says, it will be difficult to move it without messing it up, especially over any sort of distance?

I did successfully cut a barn into three once, and pick each section up with a digger, and moved it. I suppose it could be possible to do the same? Fix some anchor points through the tin and into the frame? Then pick it up from above , in sections? Just a thought?

Oohhh, yeah, I did, it’s taken prize spot in the pointy, levering thingy rack in the workshop, not been used in anger yet!

I did consider this but its quite high in the middle. Saying that the man that would be doing the job has a 13 meter forklift so may well be a possibility. Only needs to go about 250 yards..... I maybe wrongly assumed the structure to be quite strong, theres loops/legs every 3 feet with laterals about the same. Also an upside down T from side to side bracing up to the middle/highest point every 8 feet. I guess pictures would explain this better!

It was for these bracings that I had thought about making a frame to carry the weight, maybe 8 feet wide and 20 feet long with slots for pallet forks at each end. Could also use ratchet straps at the bottom of the loops/legs to try to maintain the shape.... or maybe i should just level it and stick up a new machinery shed....

Sounds like there’s more metal in it than Nissen huts I’ve seen?

Whilst we all like to recycle, by the time you've made a lifting frame a new machinery shed could be up.

Put the scrap money towards a few cube of concrete for the bases and crack on.

Not wanting to pi$$ on you chips there @Andrew1983 , but I have to agree with Nearly, seeing the pics.

Any time, energy and money is going to be better invested in another building.
